FOR CHAPEAUX

Bent, St. Vrain & Co. offers the loop and cockade and tassel prescribed for
most officers of the Army of the United States

The loop and cockade is based on originals once
belonging to Topographical Engineers George Hughes
and Francis Bryan.  Hand embroidered with bright and 
dead gold bullion and bullion buttons on a black silk
cockade.  Appropriate for all officers except those of
General rank and post-1841 Engineers.*  Price $36.00
The tassel is copied from an original in our collection.
This style was used on chapeaux from 1832 onward.  The
 loop on the end can be removed if one desires a single
 cord, flat lace, or nothing.  Appropriate for all officers.
Price $30.00 a pair.

 

*Officers holding the rank of General were additionally ornamented with twenty-four 2.5 inch gold rays
 emanating from the center of the Eagle and terminating with silver stars.
 Engineer officers used a strap rather than the loop.
